                 the answer to this question is yes it was. In 1949 the government of peoples republic of china opend the Forbidden City to the public for the first time since it was built. Now also known as the Palace Museum or Gu Gong in chinese this magnificiant city holds pricless artifacts and art from all periods of the chinese history. It is visited by more than 2 million people a year. It is also one of the most popular tourist atractions in the world. And theres more for the people who cant visit in person there is a one-twentieth scale replica of this city in the forbidden gardens in katy, Texas

Why is called the forbidden city and what is the merididan gate

            you may ask why is it called the (forbidden city ).well its because this imense complex was only for members of the imperial family and their servants no one else could go in hence the name forbidden. Now lets talk about the meridian gate. The merididan Gate is a 32 foot high wall to keep out anyone who isnt in the imperila family. Inside the maridden gates there is a 20 foot deep moat sorounding the city

        The forbidden City is located in a place not only a place, but the capitol of China itself.....Beijing. itself.....Beijing. Yes, the forbidden city is located in the center of one of the biggest cities in the world. as you allready know by reading my other posts the forbidden city isnt very big but took about 14 years to be built. the forbidden city was built in 1406 and started in 1394.

what is the format and structure of the forbidden city

              The format of the city is pretty basic and simple. the city is laid out in a rectangular grid patern. It has a north and south axis. The front of the city faces the sunny south each building is positioned acording to its function and status.

How big is the forbidden city & why was it built

                The Forbidden City is not a very big city but has a lot of meaning. The forbidden city is about 3,350ft  by 2,526ft, not neccessaraly the biggest city in the world. The forbidden city is sorounded by a moat and a big gate I will talk about this later in the blog. Anyway the forbidden city was built for chinese emporers. there the emporers lived a life in luxury, the forbidden city is a royal city that was forbidden to most of the emporers subject. the forbidden city was built in the ming dynasty in the 15th century and was home to 14 emporers of  the ming dyansty and 10 of the qing dynasty.
